The other day I read an article about tattoos, and well since I have one it intrigued me. Tattoos haven't always been something that people look at and see as a good thing. Usually people with tattoos were prisoners, or had a medical condition. Now a days you can walk into a store and see models with tattoos. In fact last week a poster on the wall in H&M had a model with three tattoos visible. Tattoos are slowly becoming accepted in society as a form of expression and fashion. For those of you who aren't into getting some ink on your skin, express your wild side with a splash of color on a night out on the town with this metallic bandeaux.

Serendipity: is an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident, good fortune and luck.

Here's the story, a few men with a pooled $300 started New York's first Coffee house in 1954 called Serendipity 3. It certainly covers "making desirable discoveries" when you check out there menu of food and sweets that's almost as big as the table. And if you have the good fortune of sitting down with friends and ordering the original frozen hot chocolate you will understand serendipity.Eclectic atmosphere and the frozen hot chocolates cause long lines as this is a favorite place among the famous and tourist. You never know who you will see. Enjoy!

I am a shoe fanatic. I must say that I take after my mom who also shares a deep love for shoes. When I walk into a shoe store I can’t help but to feel jittery with excitement! Needless to say I can spend hours in a shoe store admiring and trying on different shoes. The shoes I wear always determine my style. Right now my shoe obsession are high-heeled boots, and especially the ones that have a hipster edge. And so I find myself dressing up as a hipster. With the oversized sweater, the loose bun, the worn in high-heeled boots, and might I add for my own taste—the dark dramatic eye makeup. But this is all a phase, and I know it. Soon I will ditch the boots, and put on the ballet flats, or the pumps, and then my style will change again.

Because I love all types of shoes I cant find myself sticking to one style of clothes. For some people shoes are just accessories, but I believe an outfit must start at the feet and work its way up. When I don’t follow this I find myself having to completely change my outfit just because it doesn’t go with my shoes. To me, the shoe is the character. My mom always tells me that you can learn a lot about a guy based off of his shoes. She’ll say” Look at his shoes. If they are rugged and old then you’ll know he’s a lazy person” Haha okay maybe that’s a bit judgmental, but all I can say to guys out there is to be wary of what you put on your feet because us females are noticing!

Flip Flops to Lady Suits. Dressing for the Professional (intern) Life

Washington DC is a romantic town. I would even go as far as to say that DC is the Paris of the States…for idealistic political nerds like yours truly. Most buildings and sidewalks are made of old brick. Beautifully maintained monuments light up the city at night. Men actually wear suits to work. Yes, Suits! With suspenders! And pocket squares! And bowties!

For me, DC’s style has been a big shift. I’ve been attending school in Southern California for the past 4 years…where flip flops and t-shirts are the norm…even for superiors.

My Story

When I first entered the career world (well, intern world) I actually dressed down my office attire after the first month. The old expression is that it’s better to be over-dressed than under-dressed. But when your boss (who happens to be a major elected official) shows up in flips flops and jeans, you feel silly in stockings and oxford shirts. Luckily, there were a select few stylish women around the office that became my office fashionistas. They showed me the office attire guiding light. Essentially the happy-medium was cute wedges, pencil skirts, and simple v-neck shirts. I still felt like sometimes I was dressed for the royal wedding at a country-western bar. Again, insert the old expression from above, and always dress up rather than down.

If I had one word to describe the fashion in DC, it’d be crisp. Blazers rule the land-- even at the bar scene on weekends. Ironing and proper tailoring jobs are a right of passage. Nothing should be remotely glitterly, ripped, or flashy. Replace flashy with classy. Save your hipster attire for Brooklyn and Santa Monica, because you’ll never get passed security at the White House wearing a Ga Ga Meat Dress.

Thanks to Michelle Obama and her fabulously toned arms, Jcrew has become mastermind for style here. Preppy and neat, it serves as the foundation for most women who call the nation’s capitol home.

The biggest advice I could give is that if you want to be taken seriously, dress seriously. This includes a bit of make-up as well. I’m not advising to powder your face like our dear friends from the Jersey Shore, but a little bit may go a long way.

Bow ties are cool.

Whether you're just attempting to look like a quirky genius or if you actually are one, there is one fact that in my opinion, is inescapable: bow ties are cool.

Yes, people have described it as "like having a middle-finger protruding from your neck," or that it's difficult to take someone seriously when they're wearing one, but thats why it takes confidence to wear this classic neck ornament.

As exemplified by Winnie, one can indeed be taken very seriously whilst bowing their tie. It takes a certain kind of man to fully appreciate the bow tie: a unique mixture of eccentricity, boldness, and lack of concern for other's thoughts. As Warren St. John once wrote for The New York Times, "wearing a bow tie is a way of broadcasting an aggressive lack of concern for what other people think."

My favorite part of a bow tie is the imperfection. Unlike the four-in-hand, a bow tie comes out looking distinctly different with each knot. Knowing how to tie a bow tie is a skill every man should know, I think.

Whether one is popping corn (like Mr. Redenbacher)

or saving the world (like the Doctor), the bow tie is the choice of those who want to make a certain statement with their neckwear.

As French poet Jean Cocteau put it, "Style is a simple way of saying complicated things" - and the bow tie does just that.

I'd like to begin my entrance to the blogging world with a big round of applause for those who try. Those of you who wake up, and put a little effort into what you put on. And trust me, you are looking good. It's working. So keep up the good work!

I am currently tackling my sophomore year at Colgate University, and on top of my four classes is a varsity sport and a dwindling social life. Many mornings I struggle to simply get out of bed, let alone dress myself. But don't get too excited...I manage!

I'd just like to say how impressed I am. To the girl with the guts to rock that maxi skirt, the guy sporting the skinny tie with his button-up, or the girl in the adorable blazer. Yes, I have been watching you in the dining hall, sorry if thats creepy! But when I put that extra bit of time and effort into what I'm wearing, I want people to notice! Don't you?

...So props, respect, and kudos, to those of you who conquer the world, and look good while you do it.
